Today's was the best breakfast so far. Fruit, lovely fried potatoes with sauté onions, a pastry that went really well with jam and Spanish omelette (egg omelette with vegetables). It was delicious!
The Spanish omelette must be very popular in Kenya as it is the first option of cooked eggs that we are offered. Everywhere!
I was wearing shorts yesterday as it is damn hot. I have some mosquito bites but less than usual because I am using seriously strong mosquito repellent (DEET 50%). 4 of the most itchy ones are on my bum cheeks. How the hell do mosquitoes bite on covered skin but leave exposed skin alone?!? Manuel brought an after-bite soothing stick which is wonderful. I'm using it like an addict uses cocaine!
Manuel has made it clear he will not be requiring the stick back... Squeamish! It's not like I have used it in my ass...
The safaris are over but they were amazing and well worth it! They have delivered much more than I hoped for and I am in no doubt when I recommend a safari in Kenya.
Drive back to Nairobi: 8h...This time we stopped at the equator line for a photograph:
We did not see Mount Kenya. It's still surrounded by clouds...
Lunch stop at the Ibis Hotel in Karatina. An interesting entrance mat, saw dust, to avoid wet shoe marks inside!Clearly a locals lunch stop. We had chicken (yet again!) with fries and sauté cabbage. The chicken was way too dry and we are all a bit fed up of fried potatoes as that's what we have been having for the last 2 days. On our return home, I'm cooking nothing but vegetarian and fish for 2 weeks!!
As today was not a very interesting day, I leave you with some of my best safari pictures. Enjoy!
At Nairobi airport we say goodbye to our American companions and to our amazing guide.
